Lots of people love cribbage…lots more have no idea of what it is or how it is played. I learned to play in my teens while working in Newfoundland and Quebec-Labrador during the summer.
If you don’t know anything about the game, card combinations that add together to equal exactly 15 are worth 2 points. A very poor hand might one have only two “15” combinations worth two points each and nothing else, in which case the player might say when totaling up the points in their hand, “Fifteen 2, Fifteen 4 and the Rest Don’t Score.” and then advance their pegs four holes.
Cribbage is a card game, not a board game…the board is merely used to keep score…you could use a piece of paper I guess…first one to score 121 points wins. In the game about I ASSUME the person who was ahead just finished a play that put them at or over 121 points and the players just walked away from the game without moving the pegs. Very often you will find a cribbage board with no pegs. No Pegs?? No Problem. Just use wooden matches. One set with the ends unlit, the other set burnt…easy to tell whose pegs are whose.
