The house in Portland Oregon owned by my daughter Abby and her husband Jason overlooks the Willamette River south of the city. A quick walk down to the river brings this magnificent old train trestle into full view. Even though the trestle suffered some damage from a not too long ago, it continues in daily use as part of an essential rail freight line to the city proper. And it is fun to hear the sound of the twin whistle blaring in the distance as it approaches the bridge.
