  • The Trestle

    The Trestle

The house in Portland Oregon owned by my daughter Abby and her husband Jason overlooks the Willamette River south of the city. A quick walk down to the river brings this magnificent old train trestle into full view. Even though the trestle suffered some damage from a not too long ago, it continues in daily … Continue reading “The Trestle”

  • I WANT To Live Here!

    I WANT To Live Here!

My dream house. Sorry the photo seems a tad off kilter; I could have fixed it, but since the house is kind of a wreck, the tilted image seems kind of fitting. Back in the 1990’s the family went to France, first stopping in Paris and then driving down to Normandy. This we soon after … Continue reading “I WANT To Live Here!”

  • You’ve Got Mail

    You’ve Got Mail

Sam bought a house in Northeast Portland OR in about 2012. It was a sort of craftsman house and it had a lot of character. It took me several visits before I realized how neat the front door was with bright red-ish paint and a fairly old looking mail slot that I think is original … Continue reading “You’ve Got Mail”

  • Sail On, Sail On, Sailor

    Sail On, Sail On, Sailor

Not the world’s finest photo…it was taken on an early digital camera  (circa 1999). Noththeless, the graininess and the painting like appearance make it a bit funky. What do YOU think??

  • Detail of The Eiffel Tower Superstructure

Detail of The Eiffel Tower Superstructure

There must be a gazillion photos of every single aspect of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, but this one that I took 30+ years again always catches my eye.  I’m sure the superstructure didn’t HAVE to be as ornate and details as it is, be that’s a large part of it’s beauty, n’est pas??

  • Club Moderne

    Club Moderne

I just get a kick out this photo. We were in some very small out of the way town in Colorado or Montana and we stopped fir lunch. While wandering around I came across the “Club Moderne” which was clearly not so “moderne” as it once might have been. I’m not sure it even was … Continue reading “Club Moderne”

  • Cape Breton

    Cape Breton

A few years ago we took a trip to Cape Breton to see the sights and to look for seaglass.  There wasn’t as much sea glass as we might have hope for (where we looked), but the sights were wonderful.  At one small beach these stones caught my eye. Great striated lines and this wonderful … Continue reading “Cape Breton”

  • Great Point Light – Nantucket

    Great Point Light – Nantucket

I took this picture while out fishing with my brother-in-law several years ago. I’ve cropped out a fair amount of the right side of the image that contained a large tent and several jeeps preparing for a wedding later that day. Some wedding venue, for sure. But I just preferred the simplicity of the lighthouse … Continue reading “Great Point Light – Nantucket”

  • A relic of sorts

    A relic of sorts

In the woods behind my house there is a fairly large hole in the ground that exposes part of what was a dump sight MANY years ago. I came to Lincoln in 1958, and I don’t remember noticing it until sometime after we moved back to Lincoln in 1989. The hole is fill full of … Continue reading “A relic of sorts”

  • All is calm

    All is calm

Early morning in Isle au Haut, Maine. Not a breath of wind as the skiffs and dories lay at rest at their moorings.  Looks like the fog is starting to burn off; look like it will be a beautiful day.

  • Somewhere…

    Somewhere…

A few years ago there was an amazing set of rainbows that appeared in the western sky. First there were TWO smaller, faint rainbows that then faded into this one large arching rainbow across the sky. A sight to behold for sure.

  • Gnarly, man

    Gnarly, man

Detail of the gnarled bark of an old tree. Twisted, turned, bent and all various shades of greens and browns. Mother Nature’s fine work.

  • Storm Cloud Risin’

    Storm Cloud Risin’

It is easy to tell this is a photo taken in the early spring; the daffodils are still in bloom as a nasty rain cloud drifts in from the west as the sun begins to set.
