Reasons – Earth, Wind and Fire

I clearly remember hearing this song for the first time. Yes, it’s a soulful slow love song and yes, lead singer Philip Bailey’s voice is great.  But it isn’t until the very end of this 8 minute live recording that one learns exactly what a remarkable singer Philip  Bailey is. Alto sax player Don Myrick (1940-1993) plays a great solo after which Bailey and Myrick start riffing off each other with Bailey mimicing Myricks ever more complex riffs.. The amazing thing is,  it is almost impossible to distinguish Bailey’s voice from Myrick’s alto horn. It is an incredible audio display of musical virtuosity from the both of them..
